At the 1. 7U level James Reuter will take over for Tom Passafaro, who is now a varsity head coach outside of Orlando,FL. Coach Reuter player for Mater Dei from 2. B Central Titles and is currently the St. Mary's School varsity coach. In 2. 01. 5 he led the Seraphs to the Monmouth Ocean County Parochial League and Diocese of Trenton Championship. On his staff will be another former Seraph in Chris Jetter. Coach Jetter also played at Brookdale Community College and is currently an assistant at Matawan Regional.
At the 1. 5U level we have program legend Jay Huelbig but he is being joined by former Forham and Quinnipiac standout Mike Gallagher. Coach Gallagher hopes to bring his knowledge and experiences to help the boys realize what it takes to get to the next level.
We also want to congratulate long time Sharks coach Ruben Rodriguez on winning the Shore Conference Tournament this past winter with Mater Dei Prep. Coach Rodriguez joined the new staff at Mater Dei Prep this past season to help build something special with Head Coach Ben Gamble. We are currently uploading our rosters and schedules so please stay tuned for the updates to the site. February 2. 8, 2. As a new season approaches we want to take this time to update you all on how some of our more recent alumni are doing: Eddie Hahn (RBC '1. UCONN): Eddie was Shark for most of his high school career and will go down as one of the best athletes to come out of this program. As a senior on the hardwood, Eddie reach a career milestone scoring his 3,0.
I am sure Coach Murray was happy it wasn't a dunk). Eddie will be heading to Storrs, CT in the fall to suit up for the UCONN Huskies football team. His bruising, hard nosed playing style on the court easily translated to the gridiron as he became one the top OT prospects in the country. He was selected to the US Army All American game this past year and will be heading out to Stanford to play for Coach Shaw. Chris Schifano (Point Beach '1.
Louisville): After battling back from a gruesome ACL injury, Chris had a very productive senior season for the Garnett Gulls. Even though he garnered multiple interests from colleges to continue his playing, Chris decided that his future would be on the sideline for the game he loved so headed to the University of Louisville to be a student manager for Rick Pitino. After starting his collegiate career at URI, Mike transferred closer to home to play for the Seahawks at Wagner College.
Mike has capped off his college career with helping the Seahawks win the 2. NEC Regular Season Championship and is hoping to guide his team to the leagues automatic bid for the NCAA tournament. Greg Youncofski (Middletown North '0. University of Kansas): Coach Greg was an original Shark and the architect of some of the greatest teams in Sharks history. After serving as a manager for the Jayhawks under Bill Self for 4 years, Greg moved on to joined the staff at University of Cincinnati. Greg has been an intricate part of the Bearcats success over the past two seasons and is hoping to make another run in March this season.
Eric Youncofski (Middletown North '1. URI): The last true PG to play in the Shore Conference, Eric was the motor that got all his Sharks team running every practice and tournament. After graduating as the all- time assists leader in Lions history Eric went on to play at for Dan Hurley at URI. His work ethic was not just seen on the court as it was also shown in the classroom as he was able to graduate in three years, a task hard for normal students but near impossible for student- athletes. Eric loved his time in Kingston so much he decided to continue there as a graduate assistant for the Rams. Shilique Calhoun (Middletown North '1.
Michigan State): Even though he was only a Sharks for one summer, Shilique definitely had a tremendous impact on the program. One of the greatest athletes in the gym at all times, Shilique always had his teammates backs. After HS he hung up his Nikes for some cleats and became one of the most dominating defensive ends in all of college football. After an illustrious career in East Lansing, Shilique is hoping to hear his name called on the first two days of the NFL Draft in Chicago this April. Tom Passafaro (Middletown North '0.
Rowan University): Even though Coach Pass never played for the Sharks he has been as important to the growth of the program as anybody involved. After spending 8 years as a coach and director of operations for the program, Coach Pass took a chance and moved down to Orlando, FL in hopes of finding a new program he could help build. He found that in the Cornerstone Charter Academy Girls Basketball program as he was named their head coach in September 2. After leading the girls to 1. Coach is ready to take this program to the same heights he helped take the Sharks program to. April 2. 3, 2. 01.
